Mission Statement
Mentoring Young Girls Inspiring For Tomorow (MYGIFT) Program, Inc. is a 501(c)(3)
non-profit mentoring program for young girls (Ages 8 - 18 years old) that teaches life
skills and provides resourceful information that will build confidence and self-esteem.
MYGIFT Program Workshop Objective
Mentoring Young Girls Inspiring For Tomorrow (MYGIFT) Program, Inc. is a “grassroots
concept” dedicated to offering a full-service mentoring package that addresses real life
issues (such as, substance abuse, alcohol, tobacco, teen pregnancy, delinquency,
school drop-out, and violence) that young girls are facing everyday through monthly
workshops. The program covers building confidence and self-esteem, finances, grammar
and career development. Each workshop includes individual and group activities, role-
playing, as well as, an open discussion session. The workshops walk the girls through
handling uncomfortable situations, such as bullies and sexual harassment, by using role-
playing. The workshops offer college preparation information, such as resources for
grants and scholarships. The program offers each girls a career development
assessment that includes, demonstrating best and worst practices for an effective
interview. The program also offers a step-by-step Resume and Application Workshop
that allows the girls to learn the most important elements of a resume and the opportunity
to create one of their own. The girls can also bring in actual job applications to complete
during the workshop.
